Mt. SAC Early College Academy Students to Present on Local Environmental Issues

WHAT:

Nearly 60 freshmen at West Covina Unified’s Mt. SAC Early College Academy will present three months of research during the school’s Environmental Issues Fair, highlighting local issues like water conservation, ecofriendly burials and the environmental impact of overnight and two-day shipping services.

DETAILS:

Students built presentations consisting of a series of cross-curricular assignments, including research papers, art projects created with recycled materials and public service announcements.

The Environmental Issues Fair is the Academy’s first major interdisciplinary project, which engages students in intense research and analysis and builds presentation and collaboration skills.

Mt. SAC Early College Academy, a dual-enrollment public high school, provides students with the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and up to two years of transferrable college credit simultaneously.

The Academy, which launched in August 2018, is accepting 2019-20 enrollment applications for sophomores and waitlist applications for freshmen.
